The A to Zim Detailing Process

Clean

Wheels
Every detail begins with a proper wash. We begin at the wheels, by initially rinsing them at pressure. Next we pretreat them with a a citrus based, neutral pH wheel cleaner gel, that will not damage your wheels finish, unlike harsh acidic cleaners which can ruin delicate wheel finishes in seconds. Once the cleaner is allowed to dwell, the wheels are cleaned inside and out using a variety of soft bristled brushes and soft sponges that will leave your wheel looking brand new. Upon completeion, the tires and wheel wells are pretreated then cleaned with a safe degreaser that will clean any dirt and grime present. This allows for a perfectly clean and prepped surface that is dressed later on with a natural looking non sling dressing that offers a natural sheen.

Paint
Upon completion of the wheels, we begin to wash the vehicles exterior. First the vehicle is rinsed thoroughly to remove loose dirt and grime. The next step is to coat the vehicle with a thick layer of foam. The foam consists of a special mixed solution of various soaps and paint safe cleaners, whose purpose is to encapsulate as much dirt/grime as possible. The foam is allowed to dwell, and then rinsed off at low pressure removing most dirt and grime before the paint is even touched, which helps prevent causing swirls and scratches. The vehicle is then washed using a gentle neutral pH shampoo using a two bucket method (one rinse, one wash bucket) with multiple wash mediums for the lower and upper sections of the vehicle. Both buckets are equipped with grit guards, so any dirt in them is trapped on the bottom and away from the wash media.

Rinse

Upon completion of the wash process, the vehicle is rinsed using a Deionized water system, which removes all minerals from the water allowing for water spot free rinse. This pure water will ensure that no hard water spots are left on your paint even if the water dries on the surface, which is very important as these water spots can actually damage the paint finish by etching the clear coat.

Clay Barring

After the entire wash process is complete, the entire vehicle is clay barred to further cleanse the paint on a microscopic level. This is a step that many detailers miss, but it is in fact a very important one. With a dedicated lubricant applied first to the paint surface, the clay is gently run across the paint, picking up minor contaminants, such as tar, environmental fall out, paint overspray, etc., that normal washing will not remove. The claying process will leave the paint feeling perfectly smooth, and properly preps the paint for the next step, whether it be application of a wax/sealant, or paint correction.

Correct

Machine Polishing
Although waxes and sealants can make a vehicle look shiny, the only way to achieve a perfect, deep, glossy, crystal clear finish is by ensuring the paint surface is free of any defects. The only way to achieve this is by properly polishing the paint with a machine polisher. First the paint is inspected using various light sources to determine it's condition, this includes high powered 1500 Watt Halogen, LED, and fluorescent lights to assess the defects. Upon examination, using our knowledge and skill, we correct the paint using high-speed rotary polishers, dual orbital polishers, and even hand polishing in certain hard to reach and delicate areas. Prior to polishing, all trim and anything that may be damaged or stained is taped off for protection. The paint is then compounded, polished, and refined to a stunning, high gloss finish. Machine polishing, also known as paint correction, will provide the most dramatic turn around for your vehicle. By utilizing proper technique and process will result in your vehicle having a crystal clear, perfect finish, that will provide the deep shine you are looking for.

Protect

Seal and Wax
The final step of the detail is protecting your vehicles finish. Upon washing, claying, and machine polishing, the paint is rewashed to remove any polishing dust, and to ensure any remaining polishing oils are removed. This ensures there is no masking of any defects due to the polishing oils, and to provide a clean surface for the sealant or wax to bond to. We recommend the application of sealants because of their superior longevity to carnuba waxes. However, the carnauba look is one of a kind, and does provide a deeper look compared to sealants, so we allow the client to choose which they prefer. For the best of both worlds, we can apply a sealant with a layer of carnuba on top, providing long lasting protection for your vehicle, while still having that unmatched deep shine.

Dressing Trim and Cleaning Glass
Following the application of paint protection, all exterior rubber and plastic trim is dressed using non greasy, high quality dressings to give it a dark rich look. These dressings also protect the rubber and plastic in order to prevent cracking and fading from the elements and UV Rays. Glass is the final step in all details, and is cleaned and polished to a streak free shine. Applications of rain repellant coatings are available as well.
